Continuously Variable Automatic

ContinuouslyContinuously variable automatic all-wheel driveContinuously variable automatic transmission meaning

A continuously variable transmission does not have individual gears, instead, it has one gear that is variable for all driving conditions. Unlike ordinary automatic transmissions, drivers will not feel the shift from one gear to the next. 'A continuously variable transmission functions as if it had an infinite number of gear ratios. Its changes from ratio to ratio are step-less, contributing to the powertrain's smooth operation. Among its benefits, a CVT wastes less power in transmitting engine torque to the drive wheels. A CVT (continuously variable transmission) is a single-speed transmission that works like an automatic shifter for seamless shifting through a range of gear ratios, unlike other mechanical shifters that offer access to a fixed number of gear ratios. A CVT, or continuously variable transmission, seamlessly changes through an unending range of effective gear ratios while you drive, whereas other kinds of mechanical transmissions offer a fixed.

The following is a list of automobiles that use continuously variable transmission (CVT) technology to transmit power from their engines to their wheels.
