It’s been more than a year since Covid-19 led to school and workplace closures, ushering in the infamous “new normal” of work-from-home, social distancing, and intermittent lockdowns.
During that time, people and their pets have adapted to the changing world around them in a variety of ways. One shameless dog has become the poster pup for the way quarantine has changed dogs’ lives the world over.
Tommy Vietor ’02, dressed SoCal casual in a T-shirt and khakis, emerges from a meeting in the large, glass-walled Collusion Room. (At Crooked Media — a tongue-in-cheek moniker that references President Trump’s nickname for news organizations that are critical of him — the conference rooms are named after crimes the administration has.
In a Twitter thread posted by Tommy Vietor, his goldendoodle, Lucca, shows off her begging and negotiating skills, which Vietor notes helped her “bargain her dinner time down from 5 to 330.”
The photo shows Lucca putting her full effort and attention towards looking desperately hungry, pulling every puppy-dog trick in the book to get her way. Vietor humorously captioned his photo with a note to himself, showing how hard it is for him to tell her no: “Hold the line, Tommy… Hold the line.”
Things intensified when Lucca timidly placed her paw on his foot, escalating her campaign to have dinner time moved forward!

Vietor continued to capture the moment and noted it’s not just dinner time that Lucca wants to change: “she has also learned that inching over and lying down on my head at around 530am is a good way to get breakfast early…well trained pup,” he added.
Vietor cofounded Crooked Media and co-hosts the political podcasts Pod Save America and Pod Save The World. Lucca is credited as “Foreign Pawlicy Advisor” on the team’s website.
By sharing this moment from his life, Vietor inadvertently demonstrated a phenomenon that has affected many who shifted to working at the dining table instead of the office. As lockdowns caused millions worldwide to spend more time indoors with their pets, some quirky behaviors have started to surface, and pet owners want answers.

Whether your pet has been bouncing off the walls from all the inside time or loving the extra attention they got while you worked from home, the Covid-19 lockdowns definitely impacted routine-loving dogs in one way or another. Hopefully, for her sake, Lucca wasn’t too successful with her “negotiations” to move dinner time up.
Dr. Heidi Sutcliffe of Norwell Veterinary Hospital explained in an interview with WBZ-TV that her advice to pet owners during lockdown would be:
“Try to keep your routine as close as possible and be consistent with feeding schedules. It will provide them some structure. They’re very in-tune to your behavior so if you can do your best to remain calm then your animal will as well.”
The best thing for Lucca, like all dogs, is consistency.
She definitely deserves a treat for her adorable antics, and with her experience as “Foreign Pawlicy Advisor” on the Crooked Media team, she might just use her negotiation skills on the campaign trail someday! Rdm mobile phones & portable devices driver.

Thomas Frederick Vietor IV (born August 31, 1980[1]) is an American political commentator and podcaster. He is a former spokesperson for President Obama and the United States National Security Council from 2011 to 2013.[2][3][4] He is a founder of Crooked Media and co-hosts the podcasts Pod Save America and Pod Save the World.
Early life[edit]
Vietor was raised in Dedham, Massachusetts and attended Milton Academy.[5][6][7] He graduated from Kenyon College in 2002 with a BA in philosophy.[2] While at Kenyon, he played on the men's Lacrosse team[8][9] and participated in campus Greek life as a member of the Psi Upsilon fraternity.[10]
Career[edit]
In 2004, Vietor turned down an offer from the John Kerrypresidential campaign in favor of joining Illinois State Senator Barack Obama for his first statewide run. His first job for Obama was driving the candidate's press van across rural Illinois. During this period, Vietor worked with and learned from Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs.[2]
Vietor was deputy press secretary for the Barack Obama Illinois Senate Campaign in 2004, then became deputy press secretary for Senator Obama the following year and press secretary the year after that. During Obama's presidential campaign from 2007–2008, he was Iowa Press Secretary.[11]
Following Obama's victory in the 2008 presidential election, Vietor became the Assistant White House Press Secretary, from January 2009 to January 2011; he then served as National Security Spokesman and Special Assistant to the President from January 2011 until March 2013.[12]
Vietor left the White House in March 2013, along with Obama's Director of Speechwriting Jon Favreau, to pursue a career in private sector consulting and screenwriting. Together, they founded the communications firm Fenway Strategies.[13]
In March 2016, Vietor became a regular co-host of The Ringer's political podcast Keepin' it 1600, along with Favreau and their fellow Obama administration alumni Dan Pfeiffer and Jon Lovett.[14]
Shortly after the November 2016 election, Vietor, Lovett and Favreau decided to pursue podcasting and activism on a full-time basis. They founded their own company, Crooked Media, and launched a new podcast, Pod Save America.[15] In an interview with Recode's Kara Swisher, Vietor explained that 'If Hillary [Clinton] had won, we probably would've kept doing this as a hobby.. But when she lost, I think we all had this existential crisis, where it didn't feel right to wake up every day and obsess about politics and what's happening in the country, and then go to work doing something else.'[16]
Along with Ben Rhodes, who served as Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications and Speechwriting under President Obama, Vietor also hosts a podcast covering global issues and policy making decisions called Pod Save the World. The podcast debuted on January 10, 2017.[17]
Vietor hosted a five-part miniseries about the Iowa caucuses called Pod Save America: On the Ground in Iowa. The miniseries was produced by Pineapple Street Studios.[18]
